Starting in the state capital of Karnataka, Bangalore, this journey takes you through to Mysore where you will stay at the magnificent Windflower hotel. Explore the hill stations from your base at Coonoor, before heading to Kochi (formerly known as Cochin). After a relaxing cruise exploring the backwaters, continue drive to Thekkady. Final stop in this journey is the former British outpost of Chennai, formerly known as Madras.

Trip details
Day 1
Arrive in Bangalore and transfer to the Taj Westend Hotel for an overnight stay. This afternoon explore the city including visits to the lovely gardens of Cubbon Park and the Lal Bagh botanical garden.
Day 2
Bangalore / Mysore
After breakfast, drive to Mysore ( 139 kms /4 hours) famed for its sandalwood incense and check-in to the Wildflower hotel. This afternoon visit the Maharajah’s Palace, Brindavan gardens and the Chamundi temple.
Day 3
Mysore / Coonoor
After breakfast, head by road to Coonoor (158 kms/4 hours) for a 2 night stay at the Taj Gateway Hotel.
Day 4
Enjoy a morning tour of the British hill-station of Ootacamund, set in the Nilgiri Hills. Afternoon is at leisure.
Day 5
Coonoor / Kochi
Drive to Kochi (260 kms/8 hours) and stay 2 nights in Brunton Boatyard. Visit the oldest quarter of town, Fort Cochin, the Raja’s Palace with its elaborate murals, the Jewish Synagogue and St Francis Church.
Day 6
Enjoy a relaxing cruise and famous hanging Chinese fishing nets, set against a backdrop of palm-fringed waterways and local fishing hamlets. Afternoon is at leisure followed by an evening performance of Kerala’s legendary Kathakali dancers.
Day 7
Cochin / Thekkady
Drive from Kochi to Thekkady (200 kms / 4 hours) and stay at the Spice Village. Evening enjoy a session of Elephant grooming.
Day 8
Morning enjoy nature walk and visit the Periyar Wildlife Reserve- a region of jungle, forest and grassland. Evening is to relax and explore ayurvedic massage options.
Day 9
Thekkady / Madurai
After breakfast drive down the plains, studded with granite outcrops, to the temple city of Madurai (137 kms / 4 hours) where your hotel for 2 nights is Taj Gateway.
Day 10
Morning visit the Indo-Saracenic Thirumalai Nayakar Palace and the evocative Meenakshi Temple. In the late evening, revisit the temple to watch the going to bed ceremony.
Day 11
Madurai / Chennai
Fly to Chennai (formerly Madras) and stay at Taj Coromandel. Afternoon is free to explore Chennai, once the most important British outpost in South India.
Day 12
Chennai / Departure back home
Eearly morning transfer to the airport for your International flight back home.
